GLITCHERS RELEASE THEIR UNIQUE AND FIERY EP "THOUGHT CRIMES"
Street punk band Glitchers released their debut EP Thought Crimes and its sound is nothing short of loud and unique. The two piece spent last summer and autumn traveling and playing hard-core punk shows across the UK- a testament to their street punk branding and effortless crafting of a name for themselves. I’d also like to note their Merch is 100% recycled, ethical, and locally printed. I mean? You can’t ask for a more punk-defy the norms but save the environment kinda band in my book.
The EP’s starter track, “Keep Calm,” is nothing short of explosive. Keeping close to their screamo and punk roots, the band knows how to play into the sound well. With strong lyrics being met with intricate guitar riffs, Glitchers knows how to start off a piece of work and how to get you hooked.

Track two, “FFFIREWORK,” was the second single ever released under the band- it seems fitting to place it as two on the EP as well. It captures the same explosive energy as “Keep Calm” but reforms it into an anthem for the masses. The lyrics are hardcore, the sound is dynamic, and the production is nothing short of perfection.

Track three, and possibly my favorite (?) is “Suck It.” Not only does it feature a thirty second instrumental as a start to the song, but its lyrics are politically poignant and nothing short of obscene. It plays along the concept of sex and what can and cannot be seen as pleasurable to a female. It calls upon the media and how it has interpreted and defined pleasure. Quite frankly, it could be the track of the newest revolution.
The following track, “Tunnels” was also released as a single prior to the drop of the full EP. It’s aggressive, belligerent, and masochistic- but in the best way possible. But the track quickly transforms towards the end to a more hopeful undertone of finding yourself and your home through the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a punk spin on a saying so famously known through time.

Track 5. “Zombie Generation.” Not much to say except it’s yet another explosive track that could lead a revolt. Can I say they’re making the soundtrack to the revolution? Nonetheless, this song deals with the construct of today’s generation being surrounded by social media and screens. The track denies we’ve become the “zombie generation” without hopes and dreams. It’s a fun play on the stereotype and a powerful way to continue the second half of the EP in.

The sixth, and final track, “Fuck the Torries” is nothing short of brit pop punk. It’s raw and it sends a powerful message to the listener. Ending the EP with the same energy it started with almost encourages you to hit replay. The simple chorus line could easily be repeated among thousands at a show or in the streets- forever true to their branding.
Glitchers is redefining what being punk means- what taking a stand looks like. They’re leading the newest generation of people who grew up on punk and seeking a name for themselves.
