Baltimore’s newest up and coming 4-piece punk band, Pinkshift, released their newest single “i'm gonna tell my therapist on you” on July 31st; A small tease to their upcoming debut EP, and have now released their Music Video to accompany it.
The video starts out with a screencap of the menu screen of an old camcorder which I believe the whole video was shot with. I got the nostalgic 90’s vibes from it, and was immediately on board.
Though we’ve transcended to 1992 with their grunge video recorder; we’re still shot back into reality of a global pandemic when we recognize that each member is wearing masks. Props to them for shooting such a sick video in the hard times that we are in.

"Honestly, when we wrote the song, we knew that we wanted a really hype video to go along with it. We didn’t expect to make it during quarantine but hey, we had a GoPro, an iPhone, and a 2006 camcorder and that’s all we needed to have a little fun!”
- Paul Vallejo, GUITARIST
Before getting into the music portion of the video, we’re given a brief intro of Ash (vocals) playing with the camera, and throughout the video we’re given small portions of dialogue and playfulness. I love when bands let loose and give us their most genuine selves, and just have fun.
This music video looks like it was shot in multiple places in an empty house; each member of the band getting their own room for their shot. (Even though Myron (drums) had to eventually go to an open space because of some noise complaints) We were even blessed with a car scene, where Ash created her own thrashing session. The back and forth between each member also helped reflect the punk chaos of the song itself. |
Overall, I love the playfulness, the chaos, and the throwback nostalgia that this music video serves and cannot want for more tunes and tours from this fierce group.
