CHARLOTTE SANDS RELEASES SUMMER HIT "ROLLERCOASTER"
While in the middle of a packed summer schedule of festival dates and other shows, Charlotte Sands released a new single on July 22nd. The new song is called “Rollercoaster”, a fun and catchy song perfect for a summer hit.
Charlotte Sands is a pop artist with an alternative side, and not just because of her signature blue hair. “Rollercoaster” is definitely a pop song, but the track builds up to an anthemic, pop rock sound by the end. Charlotte is also an artist with progressive sense saying her mission is to “create a safe space for people to feel accepted and celebrated for their weirdness and diversity”. Her voice through music and statements like this has given her much success; she has over thirty million streams on spotify, and this newest single will certainly give her more fans.
“Rollercoaster” is about a toxic relationship- the ups and downs and cycles toxic relationships can go through, which Charlotte compares to being stuck on a rollercoaster. She explains more of the story behind the song by saying, “it’s about being addicted to the highs and lows and the inability to leave some
one because you’ve already survived so much together.” As angry as the song gets towards the other person, there’s great imagery in the beginning of living in a burning house where Charlotte sings “I should have blown the candles out.” We can hear how “addicted to the highs and lows” she was through those lyrics by blaming herself for also not stopping what was happening even though she later sings about how nauseous and exhausted it made her feel. Charlotte further states she hopes this song “allows other people to feel less alone while struggling with similar situations and emotions.”
