SUPERDESTROYER RELEASES EXPERIMENTAL ALBUM "THINGS ARE MADE OF THINGS AN THOSE THINGS ARE MADE OF MORE THINGS"

Picture
Music is a fantastic form of art to express different forms of emotions and themes. From Ohio, Superdestroyer releases their form of art with their newest album “Things Are Made of Things and Those Things Are Made of More Things.” The album dives into different waves of genres with a unique twist. Every track brings in a different rush of themes and introduces the audience to a unique sound set.
The album opens with a dreamy, celestial track titled “Water Level [Super Mario World].” Most first tracks give the listeners a taste of what the album will sound like. However, this one prepares for a more extraordinary feel for the rest of the album. “Before I Die I’d Like To Give My Regards To The Internet” is the following track which features audio from philosopher Cornel West. The audio comes from an interview with Cornel West speaking on the issues of racism and classism in America. The track incorporates punk, heavy vocals with gritty guitars. The following track “Remember Feelings?” follows the same flow as the previous track. “The Truth About Superdestroyer” also follows a similar flow but also encompasses emo-like vocals with sappy lyrics.

Halfway through the album, we’re drawn into the heavenly track of “Ghost Houses [Super Mario World].” The track features drown out vocals with a consistent sympathizer beat. The track slowly plays out as it transitions into the next track “What Time Should I Come Over?” The track begins intensely but progresses into a soft, easy-going track. The vocals are high-pitched yet the subtleness offers a soft tuneful track. “🤯” brings in a different sound of catchy rhythms and a melodious guitar. It features robotic-like samples with a consistent tone of the guitar and vocals. “🤯”  plays out and “90’s T R A S H” comes in short, but incorporates memorable tunes. The track has similar vocals and tuning to the Malcolm in the Middle theme song but also holds itself with uniqueness.

Superdestroyer continues to showcase their talent with the last two tracks. “I Think I Can Help Get You Out Of This Jam” presents itself with incredible lyrics and catchy melodies. The lyrics have an emo tone with a definite late 90’s emo influence. The gritty guitar and sappy vocals remind me of a Mineral track (especially February by Mineral). The track ends and the album closes with “Yoshi’s Island [Super Mario World].” The peaceful tunes and calming instrumentals offer a beautiful closing sequence to the album.
All in all, Superdestroyer’s album brought in an interesting dynamic to the music scene by showcasing various styles of genres. Nowadays, many artists and bands do experiment with genre, however, Superdestroyer went far behind and incorporated their style with already presenting genres. “Things Are Made of Things and Those Things Are Made of More Things” is the album to introduce to anyone willing to dive into a new wave of music. Music is always evolving and growing into something new. Supedestroyer hit the nail with this album! Check out Superdestroyer’s album available on Spotify!
