ADPTD RELEASES HER HIGHLY ANTICIPATED TRACK, "BELIEVE IT OR NOT"

Picture
ADPTD is a name you should become familiar with in 2022, especially with their exciting upcoming release of their EP ‘Bedroom Walls’ which is set to release on the 25th of February. The band, led by a woman of color, is a nostalgic band that deals with the realistic emotions dealt with everyday. ADPTD is described as being able to expect “raw vulnerability with a focus on the deep feelings of anxiety, depression, political racism and how those experiences collectively impact one’s mental and spiritual wellbeing.”
Recently, ADPTD released their single ‘Believe it or Not’ – released January 14th– which is the last single before their EP release. The instrumental we hear at the beginning of the song is reminiscent of an early 2000s movie much like New York Minute.
“The song speaks about the push and pull of faith and the feelings that reside when you're in worship vs when you're not.”
When looking at the message of the song from the perspective of the artist, the song title makes a lot of sense. The song, which Randle confirmed to be about religious views, makes you look at spirituality when you believe in a religion versus when you’re not. The song has a clear passion to it, expressing a specific emotion that not many can put into words or into music, Randle puts all that into a song for us. The nostalgia not only comes from the instrumental memory, but also the lyrics reminding everyone of religion, regardless of the relationship they have. The surprising thing about this single is how it has no set response regarding religion, it talks about the ups and downs of religion in a way that doesn’t depend on whether you believe or not.
“The song is a very feely, touchy song that speaks about the push and pull of faith, the feelings that reside when you're in worship vs when you're not. It talks about the motion of an everyday Sunday. It can be a personal song for anyone who has any connection with religion and faith.”
-Randle 2022
