AGAIN IN MAY BLOW US OUT OF THE WATER WITH THEIR NEW SINGLE "WAVES"
Again In May, four-piece post-punk band straight out of Annapolis, Maryland, has blown us out of the water with their debut song “Waves” Again In May consists of vocalist Liam King, guitarist Daniel Contreras, bassist Sean Anderson, and drummer Noah Doney. Again In May takes inspiration from variable genres and bands including Movements, Citizen, Neck Deep, and Bring Me the Horizon. Their use of heavier instrumentals combined with high energy, melodic vocals and to-the-point lyrics creates a unique vibe of catchy riffs and infectious choruses.

Beginning their career with a perfectly crafted piece that is “Waves” will pave the way for their grander success in the years to come. The track starts off as a reminiscence of, what will later turn out to be, the main chords throughout the song. It then fades and dips to silence before exploding into bold crashing of high hats of the drums and the heavy strumming of the rhythmic bass, alongside the mellow fetching sounds of the lead guitar. The heavy instrumentals tones down and the alluring vocals are introduced. The vocals really bring the piece together, Liam vocals are graceful and flows together perfectly with the rest of the instruments.

Lyrically, the theme of the track revolves around the idea of losing yourself and drowning with no plans of not resurfacing, with lyrics such as “I lost myself under the waves, I pray to god I don’t resurface soon” I interpret such strong words with the idea of anxiety, and falling under the dangerous cycle of the feeling of drowning when triggered into an anxiety attack. Whether there be an external force to make them feel that way, or because of the natural symptoms that comes with such. Regardless, the symbolism they chose to go with in order to express their intuition is consummate.
Again, seeing as this is only the beginning of their career, we have a lot of hope and anticipation for this band. Again In May emphasised with their perfectly executed and produced single “Waves” that they’re here for the long run. We’ve gotten word that there will be another track to come, and then we will be graced with their debut EP “Feels Like Home” releases on May 7th, 2021. You don’t want to miss out.
