CHAPEL RETURNS WITH AN ENCHANTING NEW SINGLE, "PILLOW TALK"
Chapel, a pop-indie duo from Athens, released their newest single ‘Pillow Talk’ this past Friday. The duo has been teasing an album since 2020. With a taste of their newest sound, Chapel has grown wonderfully in their sound and style.
Chapel is made up of Carter Hardin, the vocalist, and Kortney Grinwis, the drummer. Chapel started to release singles in 2016 after being signed to Rise Records. Chapel then released their first album ‘Sunday Brunch’ shortly after. During the same time, the duo began touring with bands like Waterparks, As It Is, and Happy.
Chapel’s music has been described as a blend of indie, pop, and a dash of alternative influences. Ever since Chapel released their last single “Mushy Gushy”, many saw a striking change in Chapel’s sound. Chapel change of sound was received well by their fans and critics. On top of that, Chapel’s lyricism evolved. “Mushy Gushy” discusses the honeymoon phase of a relationship and emotions aren’t in control. Likewise, “Pillow Talk” discusses tension in quarantine and using songwriting to combat the stress.

“Pillow Talk” begins with Carter’s lively vocals with the added drumming beats. The track transitions to a clapping-like beat with the beat increasing as Carter continues to sing. Only thirty seconds in, Chapel presents a new sound and style. On top of that, “Pillow Talk” provides a relatable experience of stress during quarantine.
