DUMMY Release New Music Video “Afterthought”

Picture
With 80’s inspiration written all over it, DUMMY released their nostalgic filled music video “Afterthought.” DUMMY, formed in 2019, arrived in the music scene with their soft-spoken, reminiscent rock music.

DUMMY debuted with their single “Suddenly” that discusses quickly falling in and out of love. Now, DUMMY released their creative new music video “Afterthought.”

The music video opens softly with catchy guitar tunes and danceable piano keys. The soft drumming compliments the angelic vocals of the lead singer. The music video follows a couple on a date while bystanders follow them around.
The scenery of the music video displays dark academia visuals. With its incorporation of different color palettes, like black, gray, and dark green.

“Afterthought” beautifully captures that 80’s horror aesthetic.

The music video becomes more intense as the couple walks down to the basement and is greeted by the bystanders from before. The bystanders begin to read the tarot cards for the date and, shockingly, the card reads Death.

As the couple continues to dance, everyone begins to menacingly surround the couple. The video ends with the date stabbing the woman, however, she appears at the end of the video as the tarot card flips to The Devil.
The clever and twisted ending resembled the endings of many horror movies! The interesting plot and beautiful scenery offered a one-of-a-kind music video.

“Afterthought” included ghostly-like elements in the track and, paired with the music video, it flowed elegantly. Taking in inspiration from 80’s horror movies like The Lost Boys, DUMMY delivered a fantastic music video.

All in all, DUMMY’s music video for “Afterthought” is an aesthetically haunting video with a dash of nostalgia. “Afterthoughts” eerie themes and soft-spoken vocals add to the video’s leading theme.
DUMMY’s cinematic talent is wonderfully displayed in “Afterthought.” The small details of witchcraft in the background, the character-driven plot, and the shocking ending exhibited DUMMY’s incredible cinematic talent.
DUMMY is not going anywhere. With “Afterthought” released, DUMMY has more in store for their debut EP. I’m excited to hear more from DUMMY and see more of their music videos!
