ERIC FRANCIS DEBUTS HIS NEW AND RAUCOUS ALBUM, "Under A Fake Sky"
Written By Lou Watson and Alexia Abarca
Eric Fransis, progressive metal/rock artist, released his 4th album “Under a Fake Sky” on August 28th. The LP tells of Eric's personal perspective of 2020, between isolation, COVID-19 and current events. From the hard-hitting drum patterns to the cavernous melodies, “Under a Fake Sky” is a raucous piece of art that we recommend adding to your playlists.
“Under a Fake Sky” is the perfect album to lose your shit to. Being in the isolating, social distancing, world we are currently living in it’s only understandable that we need an outlet just to let loose. This striking, heavy-hitting metal album will do just that. |
Eric mixes elements of metal, pop punk, and hard rock creating, what he likes to call, a “musical whiplash.” All of these elements combined together feels like a flawless dish of “Suicide Season” by Bring Me The Horizon fused with Slipknot, with a small hint of I Set My Friend On Fire.
Eric comes out strong with the beginning song “Metamorphosis”
This definitely sets the mood for the rest of the album. Not only is this a play on words, defining a change with a new LP, but it plays both elements of heavy metal screaming and then diverges to regular hard rock vocals in the midst of the song. Some songs lean more towards the hard rock end of the spectrum, like “Dead End” and “Sanctuary.” However, the album stays true to its core metal tones. The heavy metal elements that ring throughout the album make us want to thrash around in a pit, of course we will have to settle for moshing in our bedrooms for the time being.
Not only does this LP perfectly mix heavy metal and rock tones, but at the end of “Sanctuary” you can hear hints of electronic sounds further adding to the “musical whiplash” described about the LP.
Overall, ‘Under a Fake Sky” sent chills down our spines right from the first song. Our favorites from the album are Dead End, Sanctuary, End of An Era and Metamorphosis, but the album as a whole is a masterpiece. You can tell that “Under a Fake Sky” was written from the core, quite literally since you can hear the amount of emotion the songs hold as Eric screams from his core. We know that when shows make a much needed return, all of the songs off of “Under a Fake Sky” will get the crowd pumping.
