Debuted August 21st, 4-piece hardcore band, “GILT” released their prodigidous album “Ignore What’s Missing.” GILT, the north florida natives, consists of Tyler Fieldhouse (Vocals/Guitar), Nicole Bacigalupo (Vocals/Bass), Tristan Komorny (Lead Guitar) and Ash Locke (Drums) all whom identify as nonbinary/gender non-comforming.
Through their music they navigate the topic of mental health, gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia. They felt it was necessary to create music as a catalyst to reflect on these issues due to not only their own personal experiences but as well as the current socio-political climate we are battling.

Though GILT’s music is uniquely their own, and sounds like nothing we have before, to us we catch hints of  bands such as La dispute, Boston Manor, Citizen,Coheed, Drug Church and Cambria

Instrumentally, this album delivers itself through the guise of a cake. Absolutely delicious looking from the outside, and packed with various layers all coming together cohesively; and complimenting each other.
The collaborative vocals between Tyler and Nicole in the songs “Children of Animals”, “Flowers”, “Shelf” and “Blue Ink Pen” really help clue us into the dynamic of the band, and showing expressions of triumph and struggles through masculinity and femininity. Not to mention, they both flow beautifully together.
The guitars fluctuate from track to track. One one hand, they come off lighter on the more “alternative” while also having a backtrack that is perceive as heavier being more so considered “hard rock”

The hard-hitting rhythmic patterns of the drums is what ties the whole album together, perfectly intertwining with the heavy vocal styling and captivating guitar riffs. You can tell Ash loves what they do, as those emotions are blatantly transferred each time the drumsticks strike the drums.
Another thing to point on is how multi-dimension this band is, not only are we given these heavy grunge rock songs, but we even get some slower and elegant tracks suchs as “You’re the Sun” and “Numbers”
Each track is filled with so much raw emotion, it gives us goosebumps every time we repeat this album. Specifically, the lyrics “you make my blood run cold” being screamed in ‘Car Seat’ makes us lose our shit each time.

We applaud this band for being so open-minded both in their own personal ideologies and art. We thank them for being brave to speak upon such subjects, sharing their stories with us, and allowing us to indulge on their grief endured while creating this album. GILT has been tearing up the Florida hardcore scene, and we can’t wait to catch these folk on tour whenever it’s safe to proceed with live shows. Ignore What’s Missing is a spectacular piece of art that we recommend adding to your playlists as well as checking out GILT’s entire discography.
