Picture
The history of blending genres has existed since the birth of music. Jhariah hasn’t strayed far from this practice and continues to perfect it. JHARIAH released his newest single “Needed a Change of Pace” which combines influences from theatrical-like vocals and radio-pop influences. The single also arrives with an electrifying music video featuring colorful effects and memorable visuals. Here at Punkaganda Press, we continue to look for new and exciting upcoming artists, “Needed a Change of Pace” and Jhariah’s marvelous technique of intermixing genres is the refreshing release we have been searching for.
The smooth beginnings of “Needed a Change of Pace” sets the tone for the rest of the track. Jhariah’s booming vocals transition the track into a catchy, tuneful drumming beat. As previously noted by Jhariah, he felt inspired by different influences. he  stated, “MCR’s huge production and instrumentation or the bass boosted Reggaetón I hear blasting from cars in the Bronx.” Jhariah continues to discuss that his environment helps him immerse into new music and influences. “Needed a Change of Pace” continues to encompass Jhariah’s ability to capture multiple genres at once.
The music video offers a beautiful insight into Jhariah’s creativity and talent. The music video brings in a red overlay that transitions into various effects. The effects used in “Needed a Change of Pace” illustrate Jhariah’s creative mindset. The effects include a comic-style and tv-static overlay with a video game-like appearance in different scenes. With his rapid movement, the music video conveys an energetic mood. In summary, the music video perfectly captures Jhariah’s creativity through memorable effects and fast-paced transitions.

Likewise, “Needed a Change of Pace,” highlights Jhariah’s influences lyrically and instrumentally. As mentioned before, Jhariah has taken influences from My Chemical Romance and Reggaetón. During “Needed a Change of Pace” there is an obvious influence of another band rising in the scene: I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME. The clear distinction of blending electric-pop and Jhariah’s orotund vocals brings a unique and passionate contribution to the track. Jhariah continues to display his intermixing of genres by immersing his theatre-like vocals into an upbeat pop-radio tune. His vocals are immediately distinct as they radiate show-tune-like influences. The instrumentals offer a contrasting genre of radio-pop, which balances greatly with Jhariah’s dynamic and powerful vocals. In brief, Jhariah’s ability to blend genres is present significantly in this track.
Needed a Change of Pace,” perfectly encompassed Jhariah’s fantastic talent both musically and visually. The mixture of genres added a unique marker that is rarely present in the music scene, while also creating a visually stunning music video. Jhariah definitely has a brilliant future ahead of him in the music scene, and we can't wait to see what he has next in store.
