MIDDLE PART DEBUTS TRANQUILIZING NEW TRACK
Middle Part is a creative project driven by Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Selkōw. Starting after moving to the deepest parts of Northern Alaska, Selkōw found a newfound love for literature and music- ultimately sparking the indie pop artist he is today. His latest release “& Cry” follows that of his debut single “Call U.” Both featuring heavy synth tracks and personal lyrics, Middle Part is breaking the norms of the indie pop world. Music laden with honesty and sincerity are bound to be found on his recently announced six-track EP I Wish I Was Alive. “& Cry” is the first single from the EP and confidently sets a precedent for the other five tracks to follow.
Written about the expectations of being in a relationship and how we may fall short of them, “& Cry” is an honest testament to how vulnerability and truth create beautifully soulful tracks. Creating a modern nostalgia feel, this track, in particular, features Smashing Pumpkin style guitars and a very raw production. This leaves the listeners feeling the emotions Selkōw obviously wrote the track with. The title itself plays upon the notion of releasing your emotions from the pitfalls of the relationship - of being vulnerable even if you hate to do so.
With the EP releasing somewhat soon, Middle Part should be on your artist to watch list. Featured on three Spotify-curated playlists alone, Middle Part is solidifying his place in the ever-evolving indie world. “& Cry” is a dreamy-almost atmospheric- signaling only the beginning of his career.
