MASSACHUSETTS BAND, NEW YOU DEBUT THEIR UPBEAT SELF-TITLED EP
It’s the day after April Fools Day, so you know it’s no joke when I say New You is one of my new favorite bands. To quickly introduce you to this incredible band, New You is a new, up and coming power chord pop band from Massachusetts.
New You recently released their 3 song EP, titled “New You.” This EP, consisting of “Sunny Day”, “(I Don’t) Wanna Fall In Love”, and “Total Mess.” With a total of a little over 7 minutes, New You manages to give you an upbeat melody while singing about who they are and what they feel! |
The first song on the EP, which I’m really excited to talk about is “Sunny Day.” This song is a perfect example of an upbeat melody with emotion and passion tied with it. The song, which starts with an instrumental, is the story of how even when their days are cloudy, they won’t give up loving someone. We see a lot of songs about the emotions of being in a toxic relationship, but this is a song about not everyday being perfect, but still being the perfect love for each other.
“I'm not trying to say I've had no days in the sun. I just think it would be so cool if I could have another one”

The second song on the EP is “(I Don’t) Wanna Fall In Love.” If I thought the first song had an upbeat melody, this song had a stronger instrumental and still managed to give the emotional appeal. It starts off with this upbeat instrumental that I promised, composed of bass and drums, the song itself makes you want to dance. This song tells the story of what falling in love looks like when you don’t want to participate, the fears and the frustrations, but it’s not gloomy or angry in any way.

The third and final song is another that I found very interesting, titled “ Total Mess.” The pattern I have begun to see with this EP is that all their songs have an upbeat melody, but I’m not complaining. This song is a little more mellow, but the bass on the background gives it an old-almost classic rock kind of vibe that I’m obsessed with. This song is a retelling of the moment they found that they’re a mess, they discuss what it feels like when you no longer want to be the ‘total mess’ you once were.
With this debut 3 song EP, I strongly believe that New You will begin creating a name for themselves as a band. “New You” by New You is out now!
