LIVE AT THE ACE OF SPADES

Poppy played an heavy yet exhilarating set at the Ace of Spade last week in Sacramento, California. Her physical set included a hypnotic spiral illusion, yet I was absolutely mesmerized by the music and Poppy herself alone. If you’re familiar with Poppy you know she plays and balances both melodic soft songs and heavy jarring instrumentals to create a piece that’s unique to her. These elements come together just as smoothly live; there were moments of tenderness and there were moments of belligerence. And the way the crowd never missed a beat was just as beautiful. Poppy played hard-hitting tracks such as “X”, “BLOODMONEY”, “I Disagree” and even a cover of “All The Things She Said.” by t.a.T.u. 

If you’re thinking of seeing Poppy live, I definitely recommend it. One of the best performances I’ve seen and a good first post-quarantine showcase.
