As we near the end of the year, we begin to look forward to what the new year will bring, especially our favorite artists. To celebrate this new year, we present you all to ‘babyfang’, a rock band formed out of Brooklyn, New York, consisting of Theo Mode, their guitarist, Canteen Killa, drummer, and 13th Law, bass player. The band formed right before we all entered the COVID-19 pandemic, and released their demo, Olive Juice, on June 5, 2020. Nearly three years later, babyfang is back with their debut album In the Face Of, which is due to be released on February 3, 2023. To celebrate this upcoming release, and to give us all a taste of the music that is coming in a couple of months, babyfang has released Goan Go, a new single.

“The music is a response to / an expression of all that we’ve felt in the face of everything that has been / is happening right now; a lot of rage and joy and hope and sadness and gratefulness of just being able to make this music at all”
    - Babyfang on the creation of In the Face Of, 2022.

Drawing from their influences: Deathgrips, Enumclaw, Show Me The Body, and Arctic Monkeys, babyfang has constructed a memorable rock album for all of us to enjoy. I have found myself drawn to the artwork for their upcoming album, a collection of powerful art that represents babyfang and their music the best. There is much I could say regarding this album, but for now, let me tell you all about their single Goan Go.

The band’s latest release Goan Go, is an upbeat ode to the influences of babyfang, which carries out the rock and roll feel with a personal passion from the band. This song is the anthem of all of those who feel lost in the space and time they find themselves in and makes us ask ourselves: ‘where you goan go?’. In this, babyfang uses their music to express the passions and emotions that have come with their recent journey into music, especially as a all black band. This single brings comfort to the concept of not knowing what’s next, and being totally okay with that. This band brings a piece of themselves to so much more than their music, connecting their artwork for this single and the overall artwork for their album, both of which are absolutely incredible.

We hope to hear more from babyfang in the new year, we’re certainly excited for you all to hear their album when it comes out in February. As for now, make sure to follow them on their socials and stream their newest single Goan Go, we hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!
