As the end of the year approaches and we prepare for the holiday season, there’s no better time to explore new music, which is why I’m excited to introduce you all to Beauty School Dropout. The Los Angeles-based rock band, who is heavily influenced by multiple iconic bands, released their EP in October 2021 and has only been growing since then. Showing off their musical talent and social growth, they are releasing new music this month, their album “Ready to Eat” on October 13, and beginning their U.S. headlining tour on October 15, there are many opportunities to explore Beauty School Dropout. For now, however, we can explore their new upcoming release.

This new album, which follows their 2022 album “We Made Plans & God Laughed,” has been described as a “culmination of our high highs, low lows and everything in between.” The band demonstrates this difference in their career, comparing where they were last time they released an album and where they are now. In 2023 alone, they performed alongside many well-known artists such as Blink-182, JXDN, Matchbox Twenty, and performed at events like Lollapalooza.

“The album is a sonic spiral through our personal struggles with addiction, relationships and love (or lack thereof). The album is meant to be a reflection of our growth and our intentions to overcome every obstacle that life throws our way.” - Beauty School Dropout 2023

This new album consists of 9 songs, including three previously released singles, “dying to be you,” “FREAK ft. jxdn” and “beautiful waste.” We are presented with 6 new songs from the band that give us only a glimpse into who they are as a band and where they hope to go from here. With this album, the band attempts to share the issues they face and let fans know who they are in a form of self-expression. The album opens with “i loved you” and ends with “thanks for nothing,” which are odes to proving to a person that they loved them and coming to the conclusion that it’s a lost cause. This final song, “thanks for nothing,” is used to tie together the remaining songs:  “blow my high”, “one night stand you”, “scarlett letter”, and “heart of gold,” which explores the troubles of loving someone and realizing it’s over.

As you look to explore your music taste and perhaps look into attending a show, we urge you to look into Beauty School Dropout, we can’t wait to see what’s next for them! Hopefully, you get to see them live in their upcoming tour, which begins on October 15 in Phoenix, AZ and ends on December 9th in San Francisco, CA. Their new album, Ready to Eat, is available on all streaming platforms beginning October 13.
