Heading North, a pop punk group from Pittsburgh, PA released their debut ep on May 9th. Interesting riffs, catchy choruses, and a across all tracks, Heading North does an amazing job at establishing a unique sound reminiscent of artists like Pool Kids and Sweet Pill.

Standout tracks include the opening track Uncanny, The Mon, and Flashpoint with the rest of the ep being definitely worth a listen. Uncanny, an incredibly catchy opener, includes the haunting chorus,“There’s a stranger in the hall, Something’s growing in my walls, And we were kissing and touching and my teeth are still buzzing, But I guess it didn’t mean anything at all.” Which establishes this very emotional vibe right off the bat, with in combination with the instrumentals, provides a perfect introduction to not only this ep but the band as well.

The Mon, the fourth track of the ep, has a very robust introduction which makes it clear its use of guitar on this track is going to be frequent. This track sounds straight out of an early 2010s teenage coming-of-age film in the best way possible with another insanely catchy chorus. “Flashpoint”, having a calmer intro then the rest, you would anticipate that vibe to be present throughout but instead you have a track that successful quickly escalates in a mid-2010s esc pop-punk banger. With a killer bridge with incredibly relatable lyrics “Today I woke up in the flame, And one day I’ll forget your name”, there are no doubts this song will be come a infamous track in the near-distant future.

While only on their first official release, Heading North has a great amount of potential to be your next favorite band. “We Are So Back” is an excellent release, that is definitely worth the listen.
