HUE is a name you should start getting used to hearing, the new up and coming band from the DMV area is already making themselves known with the release of their debut single which they titled Home. Drawing inspiration from the music scene in the DMV which consists of a wide range of musical genres and a large presence of rock music, HUE has made their own sound and we finally get a chance to hear it. The band has just began their long musical career by signing with their newest label, Passion Eight Records, and from what we’ve heard so far, we can already tell we’ll be hearing a lot more about them.

Their new, and debut, single Home is a relatable song with an exciting melody and unique combination of styles.The band themselves describe the song to be and exploratory view of:

“the often complex life at home, with lyrics that delve into the duality of it being both a source of negativity and positivity.”

Captured perfectly by this new single, the feeling of both comfort and a lack of true self identity is reflected. The single encapsulates the feeling of nostalgia when it comes to being raised at home and the self-reflection of realizing that true nostalgia comes when you’re alone, seemingly seeing home with a more clear mentality. Along with the release of the single, HUE has also released a new music video to accompany their debut single. In this video, the true meaning and interpretation of the song is reflected, seemingly like a family party in which nobody is paying attention and only HUE is breaking the fourth wall to get their story across with their music.The video consists of a performance by the band while being surrounded by a lot of people, focusing more on being self aware of what is being said instead of what’s happening around them, much like the single says. The loud and passionate performance put on by the band in their music video goes to show that the band goes beyond their talent and truly incorporates their ambition and love for the music into their releases.

Based on what we’ve heard so far, we can’t wait to see what comes next from HUE, hopefully we get to hear more about what they think is next from them.
