To welcome Punkaganda back into the scene after getting a new look, we are proud to bring you all up-to-date with new music! Today, we are excited to introduce Smooth Brain and their new single, ‘No Pressure.’ Smooth Brain is a New York-based pop-punk band that draws most of its influence from the early 2000s and 2010s pop punk. Their previous release, a debut album titled ‘Broken Record,’ was just released in August and has received over 30,000 streams on Spotify. Through their music, Smooth Brain aims to empower and add to the representation of the LGBTQ communities by showing their pride and connection to music.
‘No Pressure’ is an upbeat song about the feeling of a relationship filled with comfort, happiness, and no pressure to be anything but yourself. Izzy Gunn, the vocalist for Smooth Brain, shares the personal meaning behind the song:
“This song means a lot to me because I wrote it when I felt it for the first time in a relationship – usually only my best friends can make me feel so comfortable.”
The single establishes how it feels to be in relationships where it feels like it’s you and them against obstacles, the comfort of being with a person. Smooth Brain uses their music to remind us what the feeling of a good and happy relationship is and what you would feel like in this “dark place,” meaning an unhappy relationship. This single encourages us to reevaluate our emotions and look at how we would want to feel in a desired relationship.
