Iowa’s Emo Trio Stars Hollow Return with the Release of the Single “Acne Scars”

The trio Stars Hollow was founded in 2015 at Iowa State University with their debut EP I’m Really Not Upset About It making an appearance the following year. Since then, the band has released a handful of singles, a second EP, and their first full-length album I Want to Live My Life in 2021. Now, nearly three years since their latest release, the band has finally returned with their newest single “Acne Scars” from their upcoming EP In the Flowerbead, which set to release on April 5th via Acrobat Unstable Records.

With their new single the band stays true to their emo roots while implementing the same twinkle and angst that scratches that nostalgic itch of the early 2010s. Vocalist Tyler Stodghill delivers the same vulnerability with his vocals and lyrics that you would expect from a Stars Hollow song. Even with all the time that has passed, Stodghill’s intense vocal delivery, the band’s synchronicity, and their ability to balance breakdowns with gentle interludes have not wavered, but have rather improved admirably. All of this combined with the guitar melodies of Stodghill and drumming skills of Andrew Farren creates the solid and defining sound that fans know and love, no matter how much time has passed. “Acne Scars” is the band’s way of letting everyone know that they/re back and better than ever.

After nearly a year of no live shows, the band is finally back up and hitting up a few gigs soon. Stars Hollow is scheduled to play at the famous X-Ray Arcade in Cudahy, Wisconsin at the now sold-out Burn Bright MKE Fest this weekend on Sunday the 25th. If you missed out on tickets for the fest, you can also catch the band at the end of June when they play Pug Fest 2 in Ferndale, Michigan. With the release of their new EP In the Flowerbed coming up in April, we have our fingers crossed that the Spring and Summer will bring us more Stars Hollow shows across the nation.
