For fans of contemporary alternative pop artists, we have a new suggestion for your playlists, the southern California based artist Amber Ryann. From Pasadena, California, Ryann is a black, LGBT, multi-talented industry professional who is shattering the music industry. Beyond breaking through into the music industry for herself, Ryann has also created “Underrated Artist Season” livestreams to promote other independent artists. 

Providing a platform where people can come and discover artists that have not gone viral or are unheard of at the moment was in demand and popular. Ryann and her livestreams have aided in showing the impact that music listeners and consumers have the power to define what is in. Much like Punkaganda aims to do, support and empower minorities in the music industry, the work Ryann has done within her career is impressive and developing further. However, Ryann’s most recent project has been a single titled “Spaceship” which was released this past Friday. 

Her latest single “Spaceship” is a very upbeat song mixed with alternative and pop melodies that discusses the feeling of progress when you’ve worked so hard. As we come closer to the end of the semester for most students and begin to look forward to summer, we are excited to have this near-summer anthem. In this new single, Ryann discusses the feeling of coming so far that nothing can bring you down anymore, she’s ready to be where she belongs!
