Superbloom’s Blossoming Sound in Their New EP “Life’s a Blur”

Alternative rock foursome, Superbloom, have been ever-growing since their formation in 2018. Reminiscent of the ever-loved era of 90’s grunge, fans of Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins would enjoy the rougher side of Superbloom’s sound that is exposed in their latest EP, “Life’s a Blur.”

The eleven-track record takes you through an almost 24 minute journey full of flourishing guitar riffs and hard-hitting drum beats that leaves you hooked to the sound. The trip begins with an intro that drives you to imagine the lights dimming and colors radiating onto the walls of a concert venue for their next show. With each song that follows, the addictive melodies that come from every note played and beat hit evoke the feeling that comes with the beginning of a coming-of-age movie.

The title track is one of the slower paced songs on the record, with softer melodies and lesser drums. “Life’s a Blur” is a subduing tune that encompasses the feelings of heartbreak and euphoria all at once. It’s a stark contrast to their single, “Head First” which also takes part in comprising the record. “Head First” is full of fast progressions coming from the bass and guitars and has you gripping onto whatever you can as you crash “head first” into the course and thick sounds of the drums echoing behind each refrain and lyric sung.

The journey that comes with listening to the record takes you through nearly every emotion possible. The melodic characters that envelop each song with a euphoric feeling leave you in awe of the project. At first a seemingly fun and overall energetic listen, the songs make you look inward and discover a new piece of yourself in the music.

To celebrate the release of  Life’s a Blur, Superbloom will be performing a release show on June 10 at Brooklyn Made in Brooklyn, NY. Following this, the group of four will embark on a ten-stop tour across Europe in the fall. It begins on September 12 in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and will end on October 2 in London, England.
