The Robot’s Guide To Living Release Anthemic Pop-Punk Single “Cure Me”

The pop-punk band from Southern Utah are back in big ways, releasing catchy new music to ring out the end of Summer 2021.

We’re all aware at this point that pop-punk is once again in the public consciousness, as it has exploded in popularity this past year, making the search for new music in the genre more potent than ever. This is where I implore readers to put The Robot’s Guide To Living, namely their latest release “Cure Me,” on their radars. Formed in 2007, the group has pop-punk nailed down to a science, with gripping power chords on the verses and lyrics about developing one’s character even into adulthood, layed over the song’s upbeat instrumental.
With vocals that soar like those in Spanish Love Songs, “Cure Me” seeks a second chance from someone, something, or a group of people, apparent in the chorus’ lyrics: “If you let me stay I promise I’ll be worth your time.” However, this second chance is not for the narrator's actions, but rather their character. The narrator seems to be working on themself into their adulthood, past the prime time to “come-of-age” and have these epiphanies about their mental health and emotions, with the stellar lines: “I lived my youth twice / Funny how I’m still searching for who I am / And come back with nothing.” The track captures the narrator’s path to self-realization, through its euphoric and blazing sound. Gang vocals on the second chorus create a sense of unity between the band and their listeners, designed to be screamed together in live settings. It is evident that The Robot’s Guide To Living wants to be a voice for those having similar quarrels with themselves, and to tell them that it’s okay to not have it all figured out as an adult.

There is also the “you” aspect of this song as well, with lyrics like “I’ll find the man you see me as in your eyes,” and the song’s name sake: “You cure me.” It is clear another person, or persons, have expressed their concerns about the narrator’s wellbeing in the past, and the song is the narrator’s response. This track acknowledges that other people can bring out the best in us. We also want to be our best selves for other people, especially those who deserve our love and attention.
"Cure Me" is a love letter to pop-punk, and an acknowledgement of self. It encourages listeners to “Sing along as we commiserate,” as the lyrics put it, uniting listeners who may be experiencing melancholy as well. Give The Robot’s Guide To Living a listen -- shouting along in your room is highly recommended.
