8/17/20 Written By Kiana Alexis

On August 14,  2020 Royal Hearts released their debut EP titled “Within Reach”, a 5 track album that explores different themes and identities, such as the process of growing up; adulthood, and issues one may face such as the falling out of friendships and relationships.
The Florida Post Hardcore quartet is comprised of Ryan Camuto (Lyrics/Vocals), Michael Summers (Drums/Backing Vocals on “Fairweather”), Luis Vegas (Guitar) & Nelson Tran (Bass).

Prior to the release of the EP the band released their leading single “Fairweather”, accompanied alongside a music video on July 30, 2020. With that, I got a moment to speak with Ryan on the release of “Fairweather” where he thanked supporters of the band for streaming their new release. He also believed that if the songs are to connect with their audience, they too need to reach out and simply start conversations with their followers on social platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Throughout the EP, Royal Hearts incorporate and explore as a group the different genres that they were inspired by growing up such as: 80’s Rock, to 2000’s Emo, and hints of 90’s Pop-Rock giving each song their own identity.

Track two off the EP “It Gets Me So” is an all out angsty ballad, which makes it easy to see the musical influences used throughout the song and truly does have an early 2000’s Anthem Emo feel to it, reminiscent of music made by Hawthorne Heights or Underoath. With the remaining three songs on the Ep “Loving To Leaving”, “Death Of Me”, and “Wasting My Time” we switch back to an upbeat and heavier sound commonly used throughout post hard-core music such as as the use of melodic guitar riffs, bass line buildups hefty drum breakdowns, and the roaring vocals throughout the course of the song,  the technique and artistry of “screaming”. Vocalist Ryan Camuto shows the duality of the craft perfectly.
The “Within Reach” Ep left me wanting more and can’t wait to see what else they have in store. I urge everyone to take a listen to the ep, you never know, maybe you’ll find your new favorite song or they will become your new favorite band. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
