SUNTITLE RELEASES THEIR NEW SINGLE "SOMO" AS A PRELUDE TO THEIR UPCOMING ALBUM
Fresh off the release of their first single, east coast emo 5-piece Suntitle are back with the follow up from their upcoming debut album, In A Dream, entitled “Somo”. Suntitle consists of members from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts and their new song captures the cold, brooding nature of an east coast winter.
Despite this upcoming album being their first, Suntitle has been active for over 5 years and the maturity that comes with their experience is blatant on this new track. Pulling from arena-emo such as Balance and Composure and Citizen, the band crafts a musical statement that flaunts the wisdom and emotion from their experiences as a group. The song crashes in with force of a driving wave, the attention-grabbing lead guitar floating atop the perpetual motion. As quick as it starts, the instruments give out making way for the vocals and bass to shine. The song begins to accelerate into a catchy pre-chorus with full band re-entering leading into a passionate chorus. |

What’s most impressive on this track, is the band’s ability to convey the emotional resonance of their message through the quality of their production and instrumentals. The weighty sound of the music in this track suggests a melancholic tone but doesn’t discourage listener interpretation. This is of course not to take away from vocalist Joe McGarvey who swings from the melodic but despondent creeds peppering the verses such as “We all struggle sometimes” and “I never get it right, lips clenched tight” to fervent pleas in the chorus and outro pushing the rasp to near screams.

Suntitle’s “Somo” cuts right to the heart of what makes this band simply great – vivid instrumentals, spectacular vocals and strong songwriting. The band has come out swinging with what is shaping up to be one of the more remarkable releases of the later part of this year.
