Los Angeles Hardcore Band Broken Focus Releases the Live Demos from their 2025 Self-Titled EP

The Los Angeles hardcore scene welcomes Broken Focus, who just released live recordings of their 2025 self-titled EP. They spent two years practicing and writing before releasing their first single, “Break Me Down,” in September of 2025.

Their sound is perfect for anyone who loves modern hardcore that pushes the envelope. They are loud and unabashedly so, making sense of the chaotic world around us—to the best of their ability.

Their live recordings add an extra edge to their already-gritty sound. BrokenFocus are great at story telling; they understand how to balance emotion lyrically while still getting their point across to a wider audience. Everyone certainly has a lot to be angry about, and the Broken Focus self-titled EP (both live and studio-recorded) offers a healthy outlet to unleash pent-up rage.

Broken Focus said via their Instagram that they “formed this band with the intention of playing live as much as possible, and with so much AI slop out there, we wanted to release a real and raw performance of our self-titled demo.”

The live EP does that well; it contains the studio version’s tight instrumentals, but conversations between recordings add a sense of human connection to the EP. In the AI era, there is something special about hearing real-time banter between people making art together. Truthfully, the only thing“missing” from the live recordings was the samples that were placed in post-production.

A series of videos accompanies the live recordings, immersing audiences further into Broken Focus’s creative process. Audiences get a behind-the-scenes perspective of who the band is and why they chose to do this, especially during such shaky times. Though one might argue that now is the best time for emerging hardcore bands.

There’s a lot to be overwhelmed by. Let Broken Focus be the conduit for your frustrations.
